We have a team! MagMe has completed our first round of hiring and we’re pleased to announce we have a team of SuperStars (or Superheroes as the programmers prefer to be called). With this group of people, how can we possibly lose?
Ken H / Founder
My name is Ken H, this is my story. As a kid growing up with the biggest head in the class, my dreams never stopped; I can come up with an average of 5 new ideas per day, but you can only focus on one which ends up getting funding – MagMe. I’ve moved from Taipei to Minnesota to Indiana to London to Shanghai to New Delhi to Vancouver… finally stopping to take a break and settle in. Next destination: Silicon Valley. Impossible is Nothing!
Cameron MacLeod / Director of Business Development
After spending many tens of thousands of well invested dollars as an undergrad in geography and biology at Queen’s University (known as the Harvard of the North, but usually only by other Queen’s grads), Cameron secured himself a nice, predictable and reliable job with the Canadian Government as an endangered species field biologist. He lasted about 9 months before running away screaming from that sort of “white picket fence lifestyle”, and embarked on an ever-so-slightly-less-stable career in freelance writing. Much to his surprise he found himself running a documentary production company a decade later. Cameron decided to join MagMe in a humble, “Pinky and the Brain”-esque, attempt to “Take Over The (Publishing) World”.
Miyo Kayanama / Business Development Associate
Miyo is Japanese by nationality, acts like a Chinese, thinks like a Caucasian. She’s lived in five different countries while completing her education. She’s most fluent in English even though it’s not her mother tongue. She’s conversational in Chinese, Cantonese and Japanese. It’s no surprise that she suffered and continues to suffer from an acute identity crisis. Miyo is excited to be part of a phenomena that will increase the variety of cultural publications for readers across globe (and at the same time, helping those that are in need of a good home sick cure).
Albert Kurniadi / Media Relations Coordinator
A man of diverse taste, Albert Kurniadi (or Alby K. as he is better known) joined MagMe originally as an intern before hitting the big time and got offered a permanent position within the company. Some say it was luck, but he prefers to believe it was his brilliant mind and sexiness that secured the deal. Whilst studying Psychology with Communications and Commerce in Australia, Alby K worked extensively as the Communications Director for The Oaktree Foundation and travelled abroad for community and conservation projects with International Student Volunteers. Wanting to try his luck in the big city, he left the flat golden shores of the land Down Under to end up in the majestic mountain regions of Canada. Having trekked across the country in various mode of transportation, he is now settling in Vancouver and super excited to devote himself to all things MagMe.
